A big input into determining spam is user reports. If you come across spammy replies, you can help by tapping the kebab menu and hitting report on the cast. Starting today, we'll collect a little more information and also notify you when we've taken action based on your reports.

What about the people who will inevitably try to abuse this to hurt legitimate casters whom they disagree with? Is there a mechanism in place to safeguard against that I hope?

I definitely know one spam user and report all the cast every day, but that account has a power badge. What will happen in that case? In the case of a power badge, I don't think it's classified as a spam.
