I am pausing my activity on Warpcast for the foreseeable future due to the current issue with large number of bots. Recent posts over the past few months have received hundreds of likes and recasts coming mostly from bots.

Sad to hear that, I’ve always enjoyed your posts. There are a lot of bots that keep trying to get into Farcaster because of potential airdrops. All of them pay money to sign up. Bots can earn hundreds of dollars of tokens, so they have a lot of incentive to come here, much more than Twitter. We’ve spent a lot of time fighting bots and developing machine learning algorithms to flag spam. It’s not perfect but we will keep improving it.

Fighting bots is simple—just increase the subscription price. Don’t say people can’t afford it; we’re all willing to pay. A cleaner space fosters a safer environment, attracting high-value builders and influencers while strengthening valuable communities.

i'm sure you guys have discussed it internally but i'm curious what's the reasoning behind not using a PoH provider, given there's so many, including some built on the superchain?

It does seem like his casts are getting botted in a greater way than some of the most followed casters on here. I wonder if there's a specific bot cluster that's somehow evading the Warpcast filtering logic that primarily follows/engages with him.

Don't do airdrops. Farcaster has intrinsic value, no need to incentivise.

IMO the actions taken against bots made it super hard to grow here... namely, the channel changes.

One of the experiments we are planning to do is host a competition where agents give sybil score to millions of wallets and have human methods judging sybil in subset! Then we rank agents and pick a winning model to gets it weight assigned to a million+ wallets! This is inspired by what we are already doing with deep funding by Vitalik — where AI aligns with human experts to fund core repos! I think there is a use case for this here! Would love to chat more with you to see if that’s the case!

The algorithm for marking spam is not just "not perfect", it's bad! It would be fine if it just couldn't handle spam, but it marks those who are not spam.
