Not great outcome actually. Going to be very hard to govern on many counts with a minority.

I feel like a dumb American — they won, yes? I can tell you everything about the Electoral College but no clue about Parliament. (I need to study up)

A minority government is officially the party in power but they can fail to hold the ā€œconfidence of the houseā€ Basically at any point if the other parties don’t help them reach a threshold of votes on certain issues, namely budget, parliament ā€œdissolvesā€ and we have to go to election again. The numbers Maz screenshotted were much earlier, now they’re way closer. Another option is that any party can form a coalition and if they cross the 172 seat threshold the coalition is a majority. That’s possible between the NDP and liberals here, and I’m hopeful it will happen. For the last four years the NDP propped up a liberal minority without an official minority through a contract called a ā€œsupply & confidence agreement.ā€ So there’s no reason to believe a minority is a serious problem.
