Check out Pattern 93: Food Stands from A Pattern Language This one hits, as an American. It feels like the idea of simple, inexpensive food at little food stands all over the city got destroyed by fast food. Instead of a thriving ecosystem of independent and authentic food providers, we built industrialized distribution networks for factory-produced food that isn't necessarily affordable or nutritious. I'd like to see the idea of franchised fast food die and get replaced with independent food stands.

Cool app. And yeah, just having more choices that are also healthy and easy to get. I find it hardest when on long car trips with the family to be able to make good food choices. We try to pack picnics but a stop or two for fast food usually occurs as well. Toronto actually has a pretty good food stall scene. Used to be just a lot of street meat (sausages and shit) but then an effort was made to diversify the stands to more choices https://www.torontourbangems.com/post/toronto-walk-around-world-food-market
