I follow a pop culture subreddit and the news about Coinbase was on the front page (crypto is rarely ever on there). It's interesting to see the pop culture perception

bluesky opinion screenshot posted as news on reddit — they've truly become a bottom feeder for content

Wait, what's the opinion? Aren't all those statements facts? They are certainly intended to lead the reader to an opinion, of course. Not denying that it's bottom feeder content. But aren't all those statements true? I read that and think "yup, all that tracks". Why wouldn't Coinbase align themselves with an administration likely to improve the regulatory environment for their industry? What were they supposed to do? Implying corruption here is just identifying that our government is bought and sold by corporate interests. We elected a businessman to run things, after all. Where's the surprise? This happens every day in every industry. 🤷

what makes it specifically opinion-driven is that it's a narrow lens of the facts, strung together to construct a narrative. When you dive into the actual records, the donations are much more evenly split down the aisle: https://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/coinbase/recipients?id=D000072255
