ok so how do i make farcaster feel less like shouting into the void?

Feels like a common problem for Farcaster. 

I think Warpcast has done a good job with curation and spam reduction... But in the process it hasn't stimulated a "conversation culture".

You don't get any direct reputation value out of replying to ppl's casts. So ppl just QC instead. 

Making lots of low quality replies also punishes you, which is good. It's cut down on the pointless +1 replies.

What we don't have is any incentive to actually start real conversations with ppl. To reply to ppl to give them validation we liked their post. 

Basically there's no mechanic that rewards friendships. On a platform that is hyper focused on reward incentives, having the most important activity be the least incentivized is what results in users feeling like they are "shouting into the void".

Warpcast is doing great things, but what's really needed is to make conversations great again.

Ideas, anyone?

Maybe it's not so much that Warpcast doesn't reward good conversations as much as there are other things going on in the feed that compete and drown out the good conversations?

Yeah I've thought that as well. 

What are your thoughts on approaching this? 

I've been thinking a "trenches" feed that's all about the hype and coins, etc. And then maybe a "conversation" feed that's more tuned towards finding interesting discussions.

I'm playing around with @fiids for making my own custom "feeds", but there's no algorithm stuff yet.

that's an interesting separation. have you tried using boards in @fiids for that @trigs?

that's how I separate my different areas of focus (eg in the screenshots). could easily see myself creating a board just for tracking hype and coins.

I think you're really getting down to some brass tacks here.

This is the direction I'm hoping we can go! More options for ways to interact with the Farcaster social graph. 

@fiids has been fun to play with, but lots to undercover in the use case analysis. What I'd like is separating all of this into different feeds/experiences: 

- stuff in the trenches: tokens, builders, apps, memes, etc that I want to interact with, likely onchain

- global news and general updating where I just need accurate and unbiased summaries that I can flag for later review. This includes newsletter roundups and the like.

- DAO/community content that not only do I need to interact with, but cross-pollinate between communities and build actual relationships through deep discussions.

- deeper thinking where it's all long form content and you want to sit with things and digest slowly and write down your reactions and make connections with other related work & ppl.

Just a few of the initial structures that have been on my mind.
