Different genre of horrors, but while we are on the topic, a teacher in Austin was busted using AI to make porn of his students

jfc this makes me sick. this is partly why my wife and I have decided not to allow any images of our daughter, who is due to be born in two weeks, online.

First, congrats on the new kid! Despite stories like this, and the one I share below, it will be an absolute blast. Excited for you. Second, your approach is a good one, I think. When my youngest son was little, he was very sick and we had a Facebook page to notify people of how he was doing. In that community we saw many stories where strangers were taking pictures of sick kids and creating new Facebook pages and fundraisers around these kids that weren’t theirs — then keeping all the money for themselves of course.

That’s so gross One thing I think about a lot is how with healthcare there is inherent scarcity — rationing will always occur whether at the hands of the state or the market depending on where you live The most reliable way to bypass this rationing if you don’t have money is to Become Known Social media allowed for this for a time We all know a viral healthcare story where suddenly the insurer changed course, or the person raised the money they needed Kind of insane… these scammers are basically destroying our ability to do that — the last form of recourse left. No more trust

No doubt. On one side, you have parents watermarking a photo of their kid before going into surgery; on the other, you've got generous people getting swindled or cynical. Ugh.
