yall mind if i introduce myself? hi im naomi, im a triple jumper from the UK 3 years ago i was in a pretty difficult position I missed out on the Tokyo olympics by 10cm , I lost my main sponsor and I was at risk of losing ALL my national funding if i didn’t place top 8 at a major championship then i came across a TikTok video about crypto (thx gary vee) When lead me to creating the NFT collection AfroChicks ( hence my username) the sales of my artwork covered all my expenses and training camps for the 2022 season where i jumped 6 personal bests and won my first senior international medal at the commonwealth games in this video below! this is the power of onchain creator economy i really wanna put more athletes on!! over the past year and a half I’ve struggled with injury, had two surgeries l, missed the olympics again and took a break from crypto but im back, more motivated and ready to connect with new people and document my athletics journey onchain! more soon👀

The fractions of difference between being the best in the world and missing out on medals, or competitions entirely, at elite level sports fascinates me. As does the dedication needed to get there. Built different is a phrase that often comes to mind.

so true! even the nation you are from makes so much difference, you could be 4th best in the world but if you’re also the 4th best in your nation its unlikely you’ll represent them at global championships as there’s only 3 spots per nation. its a mix of hard work, talent, luck and an almost delusional amount of self belief. and those fine margins mean all the hard work could be for nothing in return but the unshakable idea that it could all work out is so powerful and makes it so hard to want to give up!!
