theory: if it’s true that farcaster isn’t growing much in users yet this bull market, it might be because this cycle is so nascent that it’s mostly just existing players getting themselves less offsides and not so many net new people yet… and most of those people already had Farcaster accounts. Anecdotally, I have seen many dormant accounts awakening, and overall engagement seems up. Possible, or cope?

Need new meta that attract new people instead of just using Farcaster as a distribution channel. Degen needed Farcaster, but not clankers.

to me it seems like farcaster is on a steady uptrend. i think ppl forget how dead it was feeling for a little while after the hype cycle

engagement is the numerator. it's the thing to drive, not the thing to wait around and wait to be driven arguing based on macro trends doesn't mean much

Recent changes, as well as the need to develop and integrate Web 2.0 with FC, could be a good opportunity to attract users. It's still very early, we will see good growth in 2025. 🔥

When people say these things, I wonder if they remember that Farcaster is a very niche protocol. There are not so many people in the world that want to talk about building in crypto. People trade or pay with crypto.

I think the discourse here is the antithesis of why people bandwagon into crypto during market exuberance. There's plenty of speculation here but rarely is it the whole motivation.

Think a bit of this has to do with different sectors are in different stages of relatively independent market cycles. Crypto is so much bigger than it used to be (despite still being small relative to other legacy industries) Also FC rn today is a home primarily for builders, creators, and users on the bleeding edge. That may change but frontiers are usually always sparsely populated *early on* I expect FC to become a home to many many more non-bleeding edge crypto exposed types overtime though, sorta like the west coast of the US became the home for soooo many more folks beyond the initial gold, oil, and other raw resource speculators and early pioneers
