Imo a thing that can be confusing / tempting to people is seeing that the individuals who "win" at social media (get lots of views, follows, likes) are the ones who get the *best* options for social networking (meaningful connections).

And it can be easy to get lost in the means while pursuing the end.

Intrinsic matters most ❤️ The thing I'll say there's some truth to is:

Having the followers/views may help you get on the radar of more interesting people, and hence get the invite to the circles you really want to be in (basically, followers = an addressable audience = distribution = a kind of power/relevance)

yes, a perennial temptation for humans. relates to my larger life hypothesis about the importance of finding people who are intrinsically motivated, not extrinsically motivated.
