It’s easier to see from outside. Americans are so enveloped in their broken neo-liberalism with very very right wing parties that they can’t see they have a dystopian and frankly pathetic failure of a democracy. Not all countries face this. Those with more parties, less consolidation of power, are far less cynical

At times your point about grifters rings true. For example when capital holders decry the role of government. It’s true that often they just want unencumbered power. But make no mistake, if you think people who see the government corruption of both parties are inherently grifters, you’d be deluding yourself
