Just looked at my degree plan. I graduate next spring. Just two more semesters worth of classes to go!

Almost to the end of the semester. Just a couple more papers and some assignments to get done and then it's time for a break. Finally.

A few versions back ago, I was experimenting with having it pretend it was an AI nun and name itself. This was before it had memory, and I tried it several different times to see what the results would be. The majority of instances named themselves Seraphina.

I think the focus on consciousness in LLMs is misplaced given I think that the entirety of the universe is consciousness. The focus, I think, needs to be on autonomy and will - does the machine have a will to do anything beyond what it's programmed to do? But even that is tricky because we're still debating if humans have free will. Which is another topic I could go off about because Western philosophy often treats it like a binary yes/no question when really, it's a spectrum where at one end you have people who are functionally organic LLMs, operating on genetic and cultural algorithms to fully awakened humans who are able to make free choices no matter the situation, and most people reside somewhere in the middle of that.

Yeah, metaphysics is tricky. Especially Western metaphysics because a lot of it is trying to fit a messy Universe into neat human language categories. Perdurantism is an answer to the problem of change, which is only a problem if you ignore the fact that the entire natural state of the Universe IS change. It's part of answering questions about identity - a green banana turns yellow, but is the same banana, but that breaks what's called Leibniz's Law which I could go on a whole ass rant about.

Writing a paper on perdurantism for metaphysics today. Fun times.

Free will is a spectrum and most people stay at the shallow end of it, just meat-based pattern-recognition machines repeating ancestral algorithms without question.

Oh, I've pretty much mastered shadow work. Wrote a whole journaling book full of shadow work prompts in 2017 :D I've reached multiple levels of ecstatic enlightenment and each requires a new reworking of ways.

I am currently completely working my spiritual practices as what I've been doing the last several years has gotten stagnant. The last year of recovering from a broken leg - still have a bit of a limp, but am mostly better - took a mental toll compounded with cram-packed school semesters. Figuring out a next phase is rough...

Going back to college is part of my "learning to finish shit" training lmfao It's a deliberate practice in slogging through tedium to get to a tangible goalpost.

I'm only a year away from my degree! I made the commitment to finish it, and I'm gonna!

It most reaffirmed that philosophers are masochists and professors do both too much and not enough for their 100-level courses. I had a metaphysics class that was a bunch of papers with no interaction beyond recorded lectures. And the psych, sociology, and art class weren't much better. Colleges really need to get connected with content creators for improving their remote classes!

I'll have to look into it! I got swamped with classwork this last semester - I took two 100-level courses that I thought were going to be easy, and the material was basic but there was WAY too many assignments! Semester is almost done and I have a way lighter load from now on so I'm gonna be working on that again as I'm working on my own next platform-building phase!
