Warpcast needs more content. That’s not a technical problem it’s a human problem — you just need more people naturally using the platform from all walks of life. They may be people you like or dislike but they and their interactions with each other make up the culture of the platform. The technical infrastructure is just like the physical infrastructure of a city, it’s there to facilitate what the people who choose to live there do. I never used the Twitter competitors like Bluesky because they just seemed to be the exact same thing as Twitter but intended to create an ideological ghetto for people who felt uncomfortable there. I prefer a messy mix of ideologies, cultures, and politics because that’s more fun and more intellectually challenging. Warpcast is worth migrating because unlike Bluesky it’s genuinely a different and superior interface for interacting with people. Now it just needs the people and I think it naturally would take off and become a mass platform if that is the goal.

I'm a writer who stumbled into Farcaster and immediately saw the potential for all sorts of creators to benefit from the attention economy here. Instead of catering to algorithms as elsewhere.

I don't even use chronological on other platforms, so it not being on warpcast doesn't bother me. And since it's an open ecosystem, people who want it will develop their own client that offers chronological order. I'm not fully opposed to discovery algorithms. I like them quite a lot, actually. Serendipity in a box. Pick a word for the day, and every time a post has that word, stop and read it, follow the link, see where it leads. But as a creator? The big platform algorithms are a nightmare. Facebook is turning page creators into meme factories using operant conditioning to keep them pumping out content for a tiny chance to get a few bucks. Some people are able to monetize in other ways, but the algorithm there suppresses thoughtful content in favor of memes, and that's annoying.

This 🎯💯 Decentralized social platforms are a game changer for anyone who’s invested time into mainstream platforms and had to deal with content being taken down, TikTok removing music, shadow banning, not being seen unless you pay for ads, etc. It’s hard to start accounts from scratch, but with socials graphs you’ll never have to again. If creators want their FB or X followers here, then it’s their job to send invites and educate them. This is how we grow. 100 👏
