It's the one autonomic nervous system function we can directly control, and it's a key in regulating ourselves. I once did a 10-day meditation retreat, 10 hours a day sitting in silent meditation, and the first four days, we were solely focused on our breath.

The retreat was at a Jesuit retreat center, but was hosted by a Buddhist Vipassana meditation organization. It was held here in Michigan, but they have them all over the U.S. and the world. That was in December 2019, and they haven't had one here since - they're restarting this year, and I was hoping to attend the one in September, but a broken leg that I'm still recovering from put that off until next year.

very cool! I meditate daily, but would love to experience the depth of.a multi-day retreat. My dream would be to do it in Nepal. I hope you recover quickly :)
