except it's bullshit; believe it or not, but plenty of drug development takes place in europe without going through the very expensive FDA process first your high drug prices are primarily caused by your broken healthcare system with tons of bloated admin/middlemen, not america sacrificing itself for the greater good.

If US market doesn’t exist, Novo (Danish) would not be able to sell the drugs cheaply everywhere else.

It's fat injections and boner pills, bro. The whole point is that this portfolio of drugs only exists *because* Americans want/need them. It's not actually something many countries would place at the top of their healthcare priority list. It's a cash grab by outsiders, that's it.

for ozempic i somewhat agree; americans both being uniquely obese on average and paying the highest prices for drugs is a very good incentive - but that doesn't generalize to all drugs in existence, obviously. but even then, novo's primary money earner was insulin before ozempic; they'd still have done the research.
