One by one, science will teach us how to optimize every breakfast food. First eggs, now coffee The team’s pour over technique, which involves pouring water over grounds in a steady stream from a gooseneck container at some optimal height, doesn’t seem too dissimilar to stuff people already do https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2025/04/08/perfect-pour-over-coffee-according-to-science/82981142007/#

I’m going to have to think more about why this bugs me so much. It somehow fits in my garage disposal theory. For me there is something about overthinking coffee-making that ruins the experience. I feel like it’s mostly men who do this. Some actually care and enjoy the art of it. The rest feels like an annoying elitist coffee bandwagon I love my simple cup of joe

I use a Nespresso and my chemex for my coffee. In the morning with the kids I cannot wait for brewing my coffee, so Nespresso does the job. For the afternoon and evening I have more time so the chemex does the job. Some coffee connoisseurs will hate me, so what? It works for me. That's it.
