ok so what do Farcaster people think about JD Vance? some of us may have all spent enough time on Twitter by now to form our own opinions based on other people’s opinions pros / cons? how does this help or hurt the campaign? who do you wish it was instead?

I dislike him because he said he would not have certified the election on 1/6 if he was VP. Further he essentially admitted that he would have gone along with a plot that VP Pence's lawyers told him would be illegal and would be the equivalent of an attempted coup.

According to the original cypherpunk ideals, and today what I believe is lunarpunk, we must build systems so this question is irrelevant to our success. I wish him well, but if we continue to build high quality financial instruments for all global citizens, demand and use (and price) will go up.

Pro-innovation, pro-meritocracy, pro-crypto, pro-open-source software. I like him a lot. Will bring some much-needed technology expertise to the executive branch which I think we’ve been missing for a while. He had a good take on AI safety from earlier this year: https://x.com/jdvance1/status/1764471399823847525

it really boils down for the deal he cuts, and assumedly, the charter he's handed by Trump, who will maybe not be more hands-on with crypto other than chucking NFTs from the Oval Office. there's a few questions hanging up in the air, first of which is whether congress gets fully swept and Vance presumably pro temps his position on a more liberal FIT21-adjacent bill. there's also his position on FOSS vs his position with Elon, and there's the additional providence of Trump's diplomatic stance with Modi and what that might imply geopolitically. we really could see a sort of accelerationism with regards to deep tech industries, if Vance is receptive to Gray Tribe counsel and Trump's staff also reflects that affinity. can't really speculate that far out, we still have months to go as far as the election cycle & I think opposition is polarized w/ questionable amount on the fence. need to see some polymarket frames soon, but who knows what happens next?

initial thought is that it seems like the all-in crowd favorite: young, cogent, techno-literate, elon-aligned. makes sense since thiel/elon/sacks have deep pockets. i wonder if there’s more of an opening amongst younger/tech-aligned moderates than is obvious.

it's unintuitive, but he wins a lot of dissident coastal elite support for Trump. regardless of their opinion, would be great to have someone that actually understands AI, crypto, nuclear rather than some career politician. he seems to be a dynamic thinker and capable of holding opposing ideas in his head. great to finally have someone with facial hair in the white house for the first time since the 30s.

He follows inline with a lot of Trumps thinking already. Which means Trump is pretty confident that he has the win. If he wasn't, he would have picked someone more in the middle or more liberal.

JD Vance is a far right populist. He is very anti-abortion and skeptical of foreign aid. The campaign seems to be thinking that he’ll play well in the rust belt, as a young politician, and as a rags-to-riches story. I think he’s very dangerous, but his extremism gives me hope that others see the same.

i prefer GCR but Vance will be good at connecting with the youth, he's also very knowledgeable about crypto which means there will be deeper discussions in public

Great pick, moderate on most issues, young, intelligent, good resume. I'm not planning to vote for either candidate but if he were at the top of the ticket, I'd vote for him

If the only thing he has going for him is that he’s pro crypto. Don’t know. Unless he proves that he’s not going to follow trump like a lapdog. (See comment from your first reply about not certifying the election) Which he could be something different, and he may not follow him IF they get in office. Let’s see what happens.
