hot take: anon people with “hot takes” are the most beta of beta energy. sharing a strong POV takes a lot more courage when there is reputational, social, and financial capital on the line — and rarely is that ever the case when one is anon.

idk, anon posting can sometimes be more pure without being tainted with doxxed neurosis of image control and narcissism. yes anons have nothing to lose – but also nothing to gain. so to make a statement as such enables less performative filtering on the take. public figure hot take pandering is pretty beta (⌒_⌒;)

+1. The world is so full of people blindly simping to every take by famous/powerful/rich people that anon publishing is a breeze of fresh air. Plus people like punk6529, scott alexander, or roon show that you can create meaningful content w/o using anonymity for dunking on Internet strangers.

why can’t we take the mental framework of posting as anon and — revolutionary, I know — apply it to our every day posting behavior? otherwise, we will be stuck in the same simping structures forever. i’d rather encourage new REAL inspirational figures vs anon characters, but that’s just a personal preference

because you can never fully separate the author from their message (if their identity is known)

That sounds nice but I don't think most people are able to separate the message from the messenger. That's why we need anons.

we're all conditioned to have a self image in reflection to society and have ingrained certain social mores that we can't easily shake. anoning allows a break from that. that's why some ppl describe halloween and role playing as freeing. it activates a space that may not be easily accessible for many
