imo one of the most underrated and overlooked warpcast features (unless the objective of critcism) that will pay of in dividends in years ahead and allow them to compete with traditional social giants when the time comes: its machine learning algorithm discoverability is key to a great distribution infrastructure

I was surprise to read > machine learning algorithm However, I agree discovery is, and always was, a big problem to solve as the medium of communication shifts. Just not sure how ML algos are the solution.

a strong ML algo is bare minimum to compete, not silver bullet. tiktok won over the world with its ML algo, which made discovery (not following) the primary interface. users constantly discovering fresh content, creators getting engagement without any followers, etc. now imagine that + open, programmable social

scary effective ML algos to the caliber of tiktok sacrifice privacy such as allowing access to device camera, microphone, contacts, etc

eh, i feel this underestimates TT's volume of non-privacy related data (likes, comments, shares, watch time, search, AI text/video/sound analysis, hashtags, filters, etc) that trains its ML algo granting access to camera, mic, contacts, ultimately is a consumer decision but does subtly influence content recs
