I dont think degen tipping would work if it actually deducted from your balance. that's the difference

We don’t have a tipping culture in Australia - we have a much higher minimum wage. But I still go out of my way to tip when someone does a great fucking job of something. And that’s the approach I’ve taken to degen.

Different vibe when there's an expectation to tip or the screen is presented to you vs you doing it cause you want to! Also tipping a token feels less real and more like play money

Need a Diamo like experience where you can TIP someone IRL from onchain and let them claim it in a link.

We get the daily tipping allo for free *and* we can’t keep it for ourselves ;) Would bet our feeds would look veryyy different if either of those two conditions changed.

It’s not a true “tip culture” because we aren’t paying for it. It’s more of a “recognition culture”. Imagine if someone gave you $50/day only for tips IRL (can’t use it on yourself). Now imagine you have to say something nice when you tip (recognition). Sounds like a better world to me!

tipping a salaried worker for their service vs a content creator (a generous term for fulltime shitposters but still..) should be different tho. plus the balance thing others mentioned. (i grew up in europe so im used to different tipping standards and expectations)

this is an astute observation and perhaps a good thought exercise. guess the right analogy would be: how willing are you to tip someone IRL for something, if you are told that your tip balance gets reset every day irrespective of how much you tipped the previous day
