I want to be able to choose which part of data i want to disclose about myself in different scenarios - my gender, my age, history, transactions, etc. Anon posting unlocks an opportunity of expressing thoughts or revealing information without causing any reputational damage.

Cypherpunk me thinks it’s a necessary prerequisite to true freedom of expression. Realist me thinks it’s unlikely I, personally, will ever live in such a totalitarian environment that I’ll need hard anonymity. But in the meantime it allows me to explore alt personalities and perspectives. Although I haven’t yet created an alt for this purpose, and my main account is doxxed. So I guess I value the concept of anonymity more than I make use of it

doesn't much but obfuscation (multiple people behind an identity) is a more active account

I totally respect this boundary for everyone in this space It’s not something that matters to me. I’m an open book, and a pretty boring one at that 😂

it’s such a new, crazy world here. I want to be free to explore and experiment and a pseudo/anon persona gives me more freedom to do so. what about you?

You probably refer to the anon casts. But if you are talking about the general use of real name x anon, I have joined as myself since day 1. As an artist, it doesn't make sense... we work hard to get established and have our name out there. Perhaps if I was starting as an artist when I joined NFTs I'd think differently.

Anonymity doesn’t matter much to me but protecting my personal information does. In that sense it’s a means to an end.

Opaqueness at the level of the individual is a requirement for accountability and transparency of society and institutions. Can't have whistleblowing without anonymity.

It takes away the reputational element and allows a cast to stand (or fail) on its own merits. It also gives a bigger platform for many users.
