What is the advantage of a Bitcoin L2 over an Ethereum L2? I feel like you lose evm network effects, and it’s less battle tested. What’s the incentive to build on it?

Right now? Hype. I think the longterm change with L2/L3 on Ethereum is starting to form (with Eth as finality), but the BTC ecosystem hype-cycle is in overdrive.

I don’t think there is any incentive only pure hype and speculation! I don’t see a long term plan for it.

The main advantage I've heard people talk about is just there is more untapped capital on bitcoin. market cap is 3x that of ETH, yet it all just sits there in cold storage. Bring it onto a layer 2 and maybe earn some yeild I guess

Choosing between Bitcoin Layer 2 and Ethereum L2 depends on the project's needs, target audience, and desired blockchain features. Ethereum is versatile with a larger community, while Bitcoin is ideal for secure, straightforward transactions and has a strong reputation.
