The 7 day challenge period for moving value off strikes me as short-sighted and IMO ultimately self-defeating because it limits interoperability with non-OP chains, which will be necessary for mid to long term success.

Fraud proofs. Optimistic rollups submit transactions to l1 and there is 7 day period to contest before it’s locked in. As opposed to zkrollups who submit the proofs with the transactions so there is no contest period. But optimism doesn’t have this part working yet so it’s just 1 centralized sequencer submitting.
