Which company is now more likely to get to AGI first? | Which do you trust more with the technology? 1. Microsoft | Microsoft 2. Microsoft | OpenAI 3. OpenAI | OpenAI 4. OpenAI | Microsoft Inspired by @chukwukaosakwe https://i.imgur.com/pgvlF18.png

2. In an ideal world, but I actually expect AGI to come out of somewhere that cares only about winning and has enough centralised power to move whatever levers need to be moved to win. (If you're thinking China, well...)

2. This becomes an overpowered corporate sprint, with MSFT + Sam owning all the compute. OpenAI becomes the curmudgeon AI safety foundation. But I also think these violent means may have violent ends 🤖

2 especially with Sam’s new involvement in Microsoft, solidifies the productization of AGI and is a big blow to AI safety

1 OpenAI has been an impressive research organization, but they just haven't proven why GPT-4 is irreplaceably performant. They also don't sell compute, and apparently, they don't like products that offload specialization/distillation to the public/users, which would build a lot of trust (like Meta w/ Llama).

5. Hmm... disappointed to see that Google is missing here. I think Google DeepMind/Demis Hassabis can surprise us.

2. Microsoft is probably much farther along then they are letting on. And OpenAI's original mission as a non-profit seems more wholesome than Microsoft's ambitions of global tech dominance.

2. But I think AGI may be lot further off than people think. We still don’t understand our own consciousness. There’s an innate difference between a LLM regurgitating existing human knowledge, and a sentient, self directed being capable of creative thought. But let’s see what happens.

1 although I still think we're quite a few years from true AGI and it's anyone's game, not just openai or microsoft

1. Very bearish on OpenAI with this cleaving of what was an amazing company. Given its resources, and probable influx of talent as well as data moat, Microsoft should speed past
