1. I know, freedom of speech, other platforms are bad too, etc. But this one seems pretty simple: no foreign influence from governments that disallow our own influence. People are too manipulable.

2 doesn’t solve the core problem. I’d say tiktok is a net positive product in the US, even if there’s geopolitical implications The algo is dangerous for attention spans, but it’s implemented on other platforms already so the damage is irreversible

2. Don’t ban tiktok, pass legislation that outlines what’s allowed and then ban it based on that. Banning specific platforms is giving the govt too much power to play kingmaker, and IMO Facebook is worse for society.

2. ignoring free speech will have unintended consequences and only make our population dumber. if people in the us are dumb enough to support bin laden we should all be aware of it.

2 Free market MF. Make something better that doesn’t rot brains. Banning it just reinforces its value. Compete. Compete. Compete.

Other. Not just because people are saying things others don’t like, such as the Letter to America thing. But yes if it’s proven to be used as surveillance or against the US and LEGITIMATELY puts the US in danger

3 unfortunately, either way is a losing battle. if social media algos continue to be attention-maximizing, they will catalyze societal stability. otoh, outright banning of platforms will be precedent for more sweeping censorship. we shouldn't be confident about the form of social media longterm, origin will change.

2 this is the free market, unless we’re at war, and even then… the great filter is something to work around, not an ideal to replicate
