Thoughts on Omnivore shutting down (1/2) Many people enjoyed Omnivore because it was free, but being free was part of its demise. As an independent app maker, you must have a way to generate revenue or your product will die. As a user you must demand a way to pay makers for the products you love. Now the app is being shut down with only a couple of weeks to export your data. While this is abrupt, it isn't surprising. When a startup runs out of resources, the end is always more sudden than you expect. The dream of making it work persists until the very last moment.

I don't understand how prediction markets actually predict the future if all it's doing is charting the emotional reaction to the most immediate stimuli. Seems pretty fit for predicting irrational human behavior, esp on short timelines. today started off with a mishap, I was late getting to the airport and missed my direct flight to LAX. i had to rebook a connecting flight though Atlanta. I met THE LEGEND Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes during the 10 minutes i was transferring in the ATL airport!! (iykyk) I told her about my music and she followed me on instagram. wildly coincidental experience 📀
