My house looses power about once every 2 weeks. It’s nice to know that when that happens, I can still heat water with my gas stove for my pour-over coffee. I too am resisting things being connected to the internet… or being electric for that matter

most of those items don't ever need updates. from a ux perspective fridge, oven, toasters... they do a job and i don't need that to improve or change. speakers and tv (apps+media) makes sense because the media you stream changes and providers change apis. everything else is suspect at best and nefarious at worst.
