wow clickbait title Steve 😂, but you are such a wonderful thinker and writer , so ofc it’s not bait I really appreciate you taking the time to write this. You raise such important and valuable points, and I think it’s really helpful to have this perspective in the public discourse. Thank you 🙏

great read Steve! it resonates a lot — I also worked many years in a bank and at some point had a massive project with 100+ customer service departments within the company (we were creating social channels from a brand perspective). I saw what customers were going through and no brand experience, advert etc in the world would change that. It felt that it’d only make it worse. One of the reasons I left. thank you for sharing this!

fair take, thanks for writing it up! here's my unsolicited 2c while i agree that zero sum games (and in the case of coins maybe even negative sum) are may not be the cleanest way to approach growth, i don't think embracing narratives necessarily breaks credible neutrality but even when it comes to credible neutrality, something we've seen from solana is that it is attractive to builders when they can feel that they have the platform they're building on on their side! i think it's fair for an L2 – especially one that's heavily consumer focused – to be more aggressive and opinionated in surfacing things in the ecosystem. i would go as far as to say being built on a solid, unwaveringly credibly neutral base layer like ethereum *should* give L2s the freedom to make trade offs like this when it comes to marketing

Steve, you had me at: “I instantly understood the value of Ethereum and what it could mean for society, for the marginalized and the institutionally abused.” Raw ETH is probably where I’m heading; the L2s have disappointed me repeatedly; done with the drama.
