I share your scepticism. I view these tools as useful if you know enough to ask them what to do and to tell if they've done a decent job. If you don't, you're at their mercy rather than them being at your bidding.

That's exactly it. Someone told me I need a yarn, but like...isn't that what I crochet with? 🥴 In retrospect I was WAY out of my depth trying to join a workshop when I don't even understand the vocabulary

I'm a fan of anvil.works I think they've done a fantastic job of making web dev accessible for new people without compromising on what's possible later. I've been mucking around with building mini apps with it today! (I'm not associated with them. Just a happy user).
