I share your scepticism. I view these tools as useful if you know enough to ask them what to do and to tell if they've done a decent job. If you don't, you're at their mercy rather than them being at your bidding.

I'm a fan of anvil.works I think they've done a fantastic job of making web dev accessible for new people without compromising on what's possible later. I've been mucking around with building mini apps with it today!
