STANDARDIZE MILK LABEL COLORS

For years I've been calling to nationally standardize the color categorization of milk.

There are far too many casualties due to such free market chaos.

Take this for example: based on what you know about colored caps, what kind of milk do you think this is?

THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT.

In the grocery store we usually go to, green is buttermilk.

But my husband went to another grocery store and this is 2% (though we usually get whole milk, and red seems to be universally whole)

Red is usually whole milk in the US!

For whatever reason we have two semiskimmed: 2% and 1% (but I have no idea whether there's a real difference)

Semiskimmed. In the UK, whole milk is blue, semiskimmed green and skimmed is red

That's what I grew up knowing: blue is 2% and green is 1%

But at the Food Lion, buttermilk is green, so I thought this was buttermilk

But NOPE. Anders got this at Publix, and green is 2%

CHAOS.

Green Id day maybe 1%

Pink- skim
Green- 1%....?
Blue- 2%
Red- whole

Cow milk

(I agree, in the same store that green cap could mean 3 different fat content levels depending on the producer)
