My husband and I started living together in Germany, so we always left eggs on the counter. It was a non-issue.

But now that we're back in the States, I have learned that he is...wrong.

B. But usually, they stay in a carton on the counter. Unless our chickens aren't laying enough eggs, then I have to go buy some from the store.

Tbh I feel very strong about this for some reason and there is only one correct answer

I take all the eggs out of the carton into a ceramic egg crate. I take the holder out of fridge to take out an egg.

Lovely! I've been thinking about getting a holder so that I can get rid of the big carton when we're down to fewer eggs.

And now that I think about it, I've seen door inserts in fridges for egg holders, implying that it's normal (though wrong) for people to remove the egg from the fridge.

So maybe if there wasn't a clam shell/lid over the eggs, I'd feel more comfortable with removing the egg while the holder is in the fridge.

But removing the carton/holder is still the best choice, imho

that's how i feel! apparently my husband is afraid of dropping the whole carton and feels like taking the eggs out individually is safer 🤷🏻‍♀️

depending on the refrigerator setup taking an egg out while the carton is in the fridge can be a very awkward maneuver. much easier for said egg to slip out of your grasp😌
