web3 mobile ux today:

connect wallet
select rainbow
open rainbow app - nothing happens for 10 secs
connect dialog finally shows up
interact with dapp -> waiting for sig
go to rainbow - nothing happens
go back, disconnect wallet
connect metamask
do tx
go to MM - nothing happens
??

walletconnect is so broken

are there even any widely adopted open source alternatives to walletconnect?

I’ve had to fix bugs in WalletConnect, Metamask and Trust wallet in my day. We need to move to something else.

Wallet connect can be so frustrating.

I had trouble with zora x rainbow a bit ago. I'd connect then nothing would happen.

Idk if it's possible on mobile, but it would be ideal if I didn't have to leave 1 app just to connect to it. 

Let me do it in 1 context plz.

We've seen similar issues when we are on spotty internet or with a VPN blocking some connections.

But let's troubleshoot!

i can't remember when rainbow started getting unreliable for me, but it was working fine at one point. recently started using metamask walletconnect and it was working fine but now both are borked

metamask integrated browser works 100% of the time for me but it sucks having to renavigate to the thing i was looking at

rainbow and coinbase wallet almost always work for me had to switch bc the above was my exact experience with mm day in and day out

i think i was trying out dawn at one stage. might be time to give it another shot

This is why I use Dawn wallet as my daily driver on iOS now. Once you’ve used a safari native extension it’s hard to go back to the multi app dancing.

that's why I switched to zerion with its built-in browser, dawn is nice, but doesn't support some websites like zeroone.art

I also had these bad experiences with WC. I prefer using Rainbow's extension
