can't tell if my social feeds are being neutered/botted or if people genuinely just don't mind what trump said about displacing the entirety of palestine. he's spewing the exact rhetoric of the apartheid government of SA all the comments on youtube and twitter (that i can see) are about how strong of a leader he is

Would love to see what the Palestinians themselves think (unfiltered by the media) before I jump to a conclusion.

having their own land is historically a huge deal for palestine. i don't think there is really a question about how they feel about being displaced without a choice

No question about them wanting their own land. I just wonder if there are practical short-term limits when it comes to the logistics of rebuilding in that exact area (lack of utilities, unstable governance structure, unexploded ordnance and all) that may be overshadowed by a narrative perception of perpetuating displacement The guy is a real estate developer at the end of the day

i would give him the benefit of the doubt if he so much as hinted at the displacement to be temporary, but he was explicitly asked multiple times and deflected the question by saying 'who would want to go back there? nobody would want to go back there' it's totally contradictory because he presumably wants to develop the land for people to go there? it's ethnic cleansing.

“Do you support building settlements back in Gaza?” “I don’t see it happening. It’s too dangerous for people. Nobody can go there. It’s too dangerous. Nobody wants to be there. Warriors don’t want to be there. Soldiers don’t want to be there. How can you have people go back? You’re saying go back into Gaza now? The same thing is gonna happen. It’ll only be death.” I take him to mean it will take a long time to fully demilitarize the area before it is safe and practically buildable again. So of course, he can’t guarantee what was asked (at least not in the short term). But I see how his words could be interpreted differently out of context. https://youtu.be/pOJ2Dl91dng?t=625
