Outside of art, not sure what the point of collecting an NFT is. I've talked about this privately with a bunch of people but surprised it's not discussed more publicly.

I think of NFTs — well, specifically low-cost OEs — as digital stickers. I spend $3 or whatever to put them in my sticker book, as a way to support the creator and simply for the satisfaction of looking at my stickers

is the sticker book just for you to look at? The question of micro tipping being big aside, I think my gripe is that there aren't enough sticker books

I feel you on that. I like @gallery but I would appreciate more venues / options @surreal seems to be doing cool things in this arena!

great thread! and legitimate question, ty @matthew i think mints should be free by default, like really free-free, not $3 free like on zora, and creators should be allowed to set their own prices on their content if they want to to comment on "is the sticker book just for you to look at?" — in @surreal, we will ship more multiplayer features to showcase your collection and curate it with friends, that will unlock much more fun "just insta/tumblr" — yes, that's the goal, to provide the same web2 ux but with the ability to earn money directly from the content you upload onchain, huge unlock imo, IG doesn't allow to do that, they extract 100% from users

looks interesting! agree re gallery but was thinking beyond art. I wonder if for the sake of a thought experiment, forcing ourselves to hide the fact that it's an NFT would actually help. eg, most nft sites without the word "nft" would just insta/tumblr
