Gm, I believe this is an Iris, and it's massive! Would it be possible to take it with me home and plant it? (I'm at a family members home, and they're okay with it. Haha)

If you see them fairly regularly I would mark it and split the tuber in the autumn. You will have far more chance of success since it's in full growing mode right now and you will need to give it LOADS of love to keep it going through the summer. It's beautiful 😍

Ah, sadly not. Once a year or so because it's a 10 hour drive, haha. Hmm, what to do what to do πŸ˜‚

If you decide to take some try and take a smaller piece from the edge with say 2 crowns- young small pieces move and establish better. Keep as much of the roots and soil around as possible, pack in damp compost/ newspaper and keep as cool as possible for the tripπŸ˜‰

Yeah, they actually mowed the rest of them 😭 so there's a small piece left. Gonna try it, and hopefully, they'll make it back home πŸ₯ΉπŸ˜‚

That sounds ideal πŸ‘ if the rhizomes aren't damaged- reasonably high cut then that's close to what you do after flowering anyway. Cut the leaves off neatly if the mower made a mess. Make sure not to damage the growing tips if possible. This will reduce transpiration too which is not a bad thing. Good luck 🀝

πŸ‘€πŸ‘€ I feel like such a noob, but I think they're too short. Only a few leaves are left, actually. Maybe I'll try one of those and one of the still full-grown ones πŸ˜‚

Hardly a noob🀝. I'm about today, if you want to send me a pic of the mowed ones, happy to take a look if it will help. Good idea to take a bit of the unmowed though πŸ‘
