for staying current, less understanding, I find Economist decent. It’s international and they give enough to dig in more and once a week is a better cadence imo. I read it for about 2 years and recently resubbed. I used to sub to Foreign Affairs as well but stopped. Was overkill.

I’ve had the same question. I’m making my way through these book recommendations from Andreessen. https://x.com/pmarca/status/1577366650763956226?s=46

- The power of Geography by Tim Marshall can be an intro/easy read for the subject. - Upheaval by Jared Diamond is a book I read a while ago but I quite enjoyed it. There are a few other books from him you might be interested in checking out. - Why the west rules for now by Ian Morris - Why nations fail by Daron Acemoğlu and James A. Robinson

My only advice is to focus on history for a region that you are interested in. I learned so much about regions of the world by studying the history of the area. The United States is kind of tough because it’s so young but going way back in other parts of the world helped me understand a lot of modern issues.

I'd recommend 'Doughnut Economics' by Kate Raworth as an alternative solution to what is going on in the world.
