two things can be true: 1. this is good revenue generation for these pods that wouldn’t have been generated on traditional platforms 2. as a podcaster, “minutes listened” is infinitely more valuable to me compared to “mints,” which imo is the most unreliable onchain metric for quality of multimedia content

re "infinitely more valuable": how are you defining "value" in this context? I'd argue that mints are a much stronger signal vs downloads: one is free, and the other has you opening your wallet to support the creator. tbh, I listen to about 10% of what my podcatcher auto-downloads due to lack of time

i'm not comparing mints vs. downloads; i'm comparing minutes listened (actual consumption) vs. mints (intent to consume). also majority of podcast mints - especially those that use layer3 or boosts - are people "downloading/minting" with the expectation that they will get paid (airdropped) in return for paying

Understood (re distinction)! Obviously you're spending your time and energy creating something and putting it out into the world with the intent for it to be consumed. Mainly trying to get insight into how "value" is being defined and allocated! Is it value to you (e.g. pride), or value to sponsors/brands?
