Discord is a disaster of a product and I don’t understand why crypto projects use this crap

It's just a glorified IRC server, unless you are terminally online in these channels you're going to miss 90% of the conversations. Search is bad (in app) and non-existent (outside of the app). I can see why teams use it for productivity, but for somebody casually interested in a project or topic, I don't see how it's in any way better than a subreddit or forum, or even farcaster (although my opinion is that farcaster/twitter-like platforms are equally as bad for following conversations).

All of that coupled with the fact that basically damn near all projects have been exploited on discord, leading to scams, it's made me never want to join another crypto discord ever again.
