Farcaster is unique out of all the alt-socials because it caters to the very small slice of folks who think Elonโs doing a Great Job with X and also for some reason want an alternative The other platforms can leverage disgust for what X has become for growth

I'll toss in one more vote for "lol definitely don't think Elon is doing a great job", but also I think Farcaster is small enough that it feels like people here have enough of a likeminded overlap on *something* that we're willing to give each other the benefit of the doubt.

yeah I feel this for sure. Plus, it's kinda like, it's his ship to burn and I have a backup. But you're a fool if you count Elon out

Yea, I'm not mad at his changes. I am mad at twitters founders for making it a captured component of culture, for destroying all decentralized aspects of it, killing third party clients etc. It was a matter of time. It's a matter of time until someone else takes over too, if it continues to have value.

But as Dorsey has said, it needs to be decentralized from the beginning

Dorsey said a lot of things, I don't believe a single word out of his mouth. During his tenure he has consistently said one thing and did the opposite.

I fully believe that even if it was decentralized from the beginning (as many campaigned for it, remember al3x getting ousted over it?) that Dorsey/Williams/etc would have captured it and centralized it.

As someone who has built several third-party Twitter apps and then got rugged hard on multiple levels, I've been very upset at Twitter for a long time. It's hard for me to take people seriously who say Elon is somehow worse ๐. It all converges to the same place when you have people who aren't subtractive in nature.
