Thumbs Up

While I wasn’t saying “communism is good,” I was saying: Capitalism is bad, actually. If you want lived experiences I’m the son of two working class parents who have been repeatedly broken down by the system they work so hard to uphold. Both are always a few paycheques from homeless in one of the richest countries on earth. You’re never going to convince me. :)

Capitalism in a book: https://www.amazon.com/Enlightenment-Now-Science-Humanism-Progress/dp/0525427570 And remember all of the abject poverty that disappeared in China after Deng embraced capitalism.

I don't think there's much disagreement about what is capitalism, but I do think there is about what is necessitates communism. For example, people often conflate totalitarian control with communism, or full centrally planned economies, or disallowing any kind of free trade. If we remove those constraints, what are the distinguishing factors? We ignore that these systems can exist in different layers of our society, use newer technology to remove naive implementations of authoritarian control, and enhance each other.
