Do you think people can really choose from any belief system what they want to be? I wonder about this. How it’s laughable when people wind up seen as tourists or “gone native.” If I seem weird sometimes it’s because I’m brewing a big project with questions like these.

I figure it's like sports betting for a trending joke/idea and calling the pop-cultural top is winning. It's gambling, but it's not pure chance like a casino would be and it's not betting on teams or players or whatever. Screening for bundling and insiders would be a good idea, but once everyone knows the playing field is level it seems like hands are even more paper. I don't like it personally but it's not like you can ban it.

Oof the concept is cool and the burn/evolve is cool - but I didn't realize I wouldn't have enough after minting my first 8.

It feels like a long time ago now I was making tons of glitch art with pixel sorting.

If you were curious - I made these by writing a Processing script to use icon images as brushes. I saved out all the windows95 and service pack icons and paint with them in that little script, then do post in Photoshop.

I'm thinking about this a lot. People apparently love sports betting these days too (which I don't get). I think a part of the difficulty is that forbidding use-cases doesn't really work, and people who make reasonable and patient claims for what the tech can and should do just aren't as exciting as get rich quick hyper-casino antics, right? A news article about someone who made slightly more yield on a stable farm for a year than their bank savings would have earned doesn't get clicks. Explaining normal returns on lending protocols that you couldn't use in tradfi unless you were a multi-millionaire - is that what excites people? 🤔

Let me note that the help index graphics were odd because generally all this stuff they made was isometric, right? Well, whoever made the "select help database" one did it wrong and it's not really isometric. There's a few you can scour the archives and find like that - where they have depth but they're not in perspective correctly. Those graphics were not used in the large Everything art piece or any of the Workstation95 assets for that reason. It also makes interesting little one-off pieces where the art feels on-theme but you can't put your finger on why it's not quite right. This is the case with a LOT of the server management and workgroup type software: they had in-house designers make stuff that mimicked official Windows assets, but probably badgered them into making all kinds of junk that engineers liked but didn't make sense. "Make a stack of cylinders to represent the MySQL database" does not translate to the uninitiated type thing.

So, these screens were put together from MUGEN for windows screenshots and medium rare help index screenshots and Oracle DB screenshots and windows 3.1 wallpapers and some clever text. The metaphor is kind of obvious, though - a custom character select screen for truth that has tons and tons of options. Eclectic belief systems like eclectic move sets.

People don't know that practicing flipping every single thing you ever pick up is like a cheat code for aura once you master it. Or you break all your stuff.
