Training for my first half marathon. I’ve got about four months. Any advice from experienced runners? Things you wished you knew before you ran your first marathon / half marathon?

Did my first half in September. In trying to fix some issues (ITB pain), I caused other issues (shin splints) and thus lost weeks of training. So, my advice is to take it easy and also add in strength training and recovery. Don't overdo! First half marathon is there to have fun with and complete. :)

Thanks for the encouragement! And yes, definitely doing strength training in addition to the runs :) I’m already feeling the shin splits a little bit though…
