I think the sweet spot is somewhere in between. Not too outsider that you have no clout to leverage and hard to break in to the in group and show results. But not too insider that you have too much to lose and would be busy clout chasing, and no hunger, nothing to prove Napoleon was an outsider by birth, insider by education. He got the best military education one could get in late 18th century France at École militaire - and excelled in his education and eventual achievements starting with the Siege of Toulon in 1793

One of the features of Ethereum that initially made me think this would be the future was/is the idea of The World Computer - a series of machines that allow for distributed and decentralized execution of any arbitrary code (instructions) in the some future time in a guaranteed way (albeit on the EVM), guaranteed to happen, but not a hard guarantee on the exact time. Also another feature I found appealing was the trust-less preservation of history: how these nodes would be difficult to take down if everyone had a copy of the immutable history of these txs, executions and data and that that even one of these full nodes could propagate to preserve the history - making it really difficult to take down.

Thinking of you can avoid blood sweat and tears in creating something is like going to the gym and not expecting it to hurt and make your muscles sore when you lift

Generally disagree. Waymo’s unit economics are starting to look good, and now it’s time to pour in some capital to scale $5.6 billion / $150k is around 40k vehicles The Model Y was the most-produced vehicle in 2023 with ~1.4 million vehicles It’s also interesting to note that robo taxis (hypothetically) can cover more rides in a city with less per vehicle, effectively taking off 80-90% of vehicles off the road. So you’re really getting 10x that (~300k vehicles if they were owned privately)

I think more because great curation is an art. And as Walter Benjamin in the “The Work of Art in the Age of its Technological Reproducibility” points out - the artistic aura of a work of art matters, the context of the locale and culture it is embedded into matters. The time and space in which it exists matters. It really means that the directness of the experience matters. Somewhere even the knowledge of owning an original painting knowing the artist painted it versus it was produced mechanically in a repetitive manner changes the mood of how one feels towards the work

I saw a grandmother fall down on the street today and rushed forward to help her up. Helping others is a virtue, and it is also the responsibility and obligation of each of us.
