I used this analogy in project planning for a couple years (though I first heard about it through Mike Shanahan, which makes sense). Most people plan out their first few sprints because those are the first things they think to do, their foundational for whatever reason. That assumes a lot, though. Instead, or at least in addition, I tried to get some “plays” and that would help us learn about our “opponent.” Sometimes it worked, sometimes I sounded like a moron. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
