Finished "Although of course you end up becoming yourself" by David Lipsky. So many gems in this book. The warnings about passive entertainment, how empty spiritual calories can kill you slowly. I learned a new word: Prestidigitation

They talk about TV in this way, but doomscrolling is another level. Weaponized.

I've learnt the word prestidigitation since the old Akeelah and the bee movie. It's wonderful how some random words you pick up watching movies or doing something ordinary can stick with you for a long time, and of course pop up in conversations such as this. btw, do you recommend the book? on a scale of 1-10?

His vice was TV, but I feel like it helped and influenced his writing. I think it's beneficial, some degree of watching the ocean waves of media-for-humans. Keeps you tapped in.
