The issue is largely what the case represents.

A layperson killed someone of the upper echelon. If people see this, they are emboldened to do the same.

This case is frightening to the people in power, largely because if people don’t fear the consequences, then their ability to rule is threatened.

Convicted rapists are still regularly getting just a few years in prison at most

He doesn’t deserve it. We just wrote off white collar financial criminals, let this guy go.

Then he becomes saint Luigi. Patron saint of medical care. Who died for our sins. 😂
