I recently discovered discbound journals which might just be the holy grail of journaling with ADHD.

My wife got annoyed I invested in a bulky hole puncher for this new hobby, after having had many new hobbies quickly come and go in the past.

Wait til she sees the $200 industrial paper cutter I ordered! 🫨

Discbound journals aren't intended to be expensive upfront but being a snob and perfectionist I couldn't find the perfect dot grid paper to my liking so the only logical thing to do was to try to make my own!

Having gone through several bullet journals (dot grid paper) over the years, I found them super helpful. But if I hit a snag and Life Happens, it's really hard to get back into the groove of an existing journal with such a large gap. Also, the pages are generally fixed so it takes some planning ahead to place pages and such, which adds extra overhead in setting up new journals.

Discbound journals use this special mushroom-shaped hole punching that allow them to grip discs yet allow to be removed/rearranged with minimal wear on the paper. This allows someone to freely write on pages and rearrange as needed (as an ADHDer may do when writing nonlinearly!) as well as archive old pages over time.

Also because it's such a simple form factor (hole punched papers and plastic/metal discs) you can easily make your own if none on the market seem suitable. In my case I'm making a pocket sized one to carry and may experiment with different sizes before committing to something long term!

I got the Circa Levenger hole punch which is selling for $80 right now. There's cheaper versions but I wanted one that could punch in bulk (~15 sheets) and I didn't need it to be portable.

fellow adhd hobby whore. what’s a disc bound journal and how much did the hole punch cost? pics?

Sounds cheaper than buying into 3 new online courses, knowing I don’t have time bc I need to plan my wedding, but hate missing a good deal 🫠

I had one! I got annoyed at the ugly handwriting and started marking stuff in the wrong date so I ripped all pages and now I need to buy more pages. hopefully undated ones.
