GM. The ocean was so flat this morning that we got to watch a small pod of dolphins while enjoying our brew ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿฌ

Yes! If we ever get to purchase a home Iโ€™d love to get a turntable and give it a good listen. Getting up and moving every couple of years is bad enough without adding a collection of records ๐Ÿ˜… I need to make some new audiophile friends and invite someone over with their turntable ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Ty! Hereโ€™s a close up Iโ€™m actually really ashamed because itโ€™s the part of the set up that I have the least knowledge about :( I need someone to school me on it. It has become one of those things I got to talk to dad about more.

When it comes to the classics I listen to a lot of jazz, blues, and folk/rock (think of the likes of Dylan/Morrison). The tubes fit these well, itโ€™s never fatiguing. Of more modern stuff I love listening to ambient on it (Four Tetโ€™s three really stands out as something Iโ€™ve loved listening to on it). Iโ€™ve also really enjoyed listening to more experimental rock/alt artists on it (BCNR, Mk.gee, racing mount pleasant), I find their music really benefits from having the separation between the layers. I have it on my list to dedicate some time to listen to more modern jazz artists so Iโ€™m not just listening to Coltrane and Baker.

You sir have an immaculate eye. The system was inherited from my farther, while most of it is now very outdated itโ€™s beautiful to listen too and sounds like my childhood. The soundstage is big, the highs are crisp and middle is liquid. It has a lot of detail and you can hear the space between the layers. The biggest flaw I hear in it is that the base can be too tight, sometimes it feels like it just wanted to give a little bit more. I think itโ€™s a slightly opinionated listen, itโ€™s warm, although never muddy. From discussions with my farther that was an intentional decision he made as the music he listened to was not originally digitally recorded and he found that digital sources always lacked a glow that he could hear in analog. So for him it was perfect. https://warpcast.com/scopecr33p/0x67773a81

Itโ€™s a great Australian tradition and if your polling venue doesnโ€™t do it youโ€™re entitled to stand in line complaining about it the whole time. There is a crowd sourced map every election for the polling venues that have them https://democracysausage.org/federal_election_2025/

Budgie smugglers jokes aside; Democracy sausages refer to the sausage that you buy at the polling venue. Itโ€™s usually a couple of โ€˜gold coinsโ€™ ($4 theses days) for a sausage on some white bread and bbq or tomato sauce. If your fancy there maybe some onion. The money goes back to some cause in the local community.

The American mind cannot comprehend ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ For all the shit I give Aussie politics, I love the spirit of our election day. You need nothing but your name and loose change for your democracy sausage.

The details those who care; - Auralic Aries G2.1 - Weiss Minerva - Recapped Conrad-Johnson Tube Pre-amp - A custom tube amp made by a Japanese bloke who retired to Australia after serving as a coms engineer in the war. - Bowers & Wilkins 603s Itโ€™s not very fancy, but itโ€™s warm with a lot of body. I inherited it from my farther and other than the speakers itโ€™s what I grew up listening to. It feels like a hug from home.

Had my last listen. Itโ€™s coming with me but I think they will have even less space than they do now. Grateful I never go around to buying a unit for them that fitted the space, was the last thing on the list ๐Ÿ˜… Such as ๐ŸŽถ

An unexpected consequences of experiencing life altering grief is that the pains of everyday life no longer feel as heavy. It is as if on my pain scale the concept of 10 has changed. Sometimes, like yesterday, this is a good thing. Everyday problems give me less anxiety and I find it easier to just smile and work through it. Then other times itโ€™s terrible because now I can actually imagine what it would feel like to lose my husband. The idea of losing people has become my greatest fear in life and I compare all bad things to that feeling. Has anyone else experienced a shift in their perception post experiencing grief?
