A month or so after clanker launched I was looking at a term sheet in my inbox. It was more money than I’d ever made and every part of me wanted it. I wanted it sooo bad, but I also knew deep down that all the stuff that had come easy would go easy too, and that the bigger challenge was going to be much more meaningful and would play out over longer time frames. only a long series of pretty quiet choices could ever assemble themselves into what I wanted. That last thing we needed in that moment was funding, we need to clarify our vision! To know what we were building beyond an experiment. If you’re building a career in the hot potato industry, probably good to buy a slow cooker. I do think it’s a lot easier to do this once you’ve secured some measure of financial security. Without it, the siren song is loud. Anyway, we said no. And now all the most impactful decisions we’re making are mostly things we don’t talk at all about publicly (yet). There’s no better example of gaining legitimacy through authenticity than @vitalik.eth This has been true for a long time now. Nearly a decade ago one of the first and most “prestige” venture funds asked him to be an advisor. He turned it down. Now he could meet with any world leader and maybe he will on his time but there’s no need to force anything for perception.

can't help but have a little bias towards any fund we've talked to who does liquid token stuff Its nice when we say "we aren't raising atm" and they don't skip a beat, they just shrug and say "no worries we started market buying" just kind of based, nothing against other funds ofc
